Assembling the Pipe Cutter
• Turn the handle to retract the blade so that the tip of the blade is above the top of the pipe and the pipe cutter frame is closed.
• Unlock the side retaining locks and unfold the Pipe Cutter, taking extra care as exposed blades can cause serious injury.
• Place the pipe cutter over the pipe to be cut, close the retaining yoke against the bottom and align the blade with the cut.
• Pull the cutter up to engage the saddle, tighten the handle and press the blade against the pipe.
• Continue to feed the handle downward to complete the cut. Ensure that the pipe cutter and pipe are perpendicular to each other. To ensure that a straight cut can be achieved, turn the handle smoothly and do not tilt or twist the pipe cutter.
Maintenance and care
• To ensure ease of use and to prolong the life of the tool, a small amount of lubricant should be applied to the hinge of the lower retaining yoke, the threaded portion of the main feed screw and the end of the main feed screw near the retaining ring.
• Be sure to wipe off any additional lubricant that may drip onto the surface of the pipe and that may cause unclear seams.
• Keep blades free of dirt and wipe clean with a soft cloth and soap solution. Do not use abrasive materials that may damage the blade coating. Use a 220 mesh or finer whetstone and hold the whetstone at a 20° angle to the blade for sharpening.
